Meet the band!
Arran
cajon, 8 string ukele, timpani
snare drum, guitar, backing vocals
Arran had an ear for music from an early age and played percussion at the wee age of 4. After joining a pipe band he decided that was not for him and taught himself to play the snare drum. He went on to classical drumming on timpani at school. Arran is currently a student rep at Edinburgh College.
He says he is "not a singer that drums a bit, but a drummer that sings a bit"
Frank
bodhran, ukelele
banjolele, vocals, egg shakers!
Frank has always been involved in music - school choir (don't laugh), playing cornet with Burnley Alliance Silver Band and has studied classical guitar. He played bugle and snare drum with the sea cadets, and been a sound recordist for live bands. Solo vocal performance include Lilas Pastia in Bizet's Carmen and numerous concert performances and bit parts.
Dave
tin whistle, fiddle, bodhran
vocals
Dave played euphonium in the National Youth Band as a youngster and in later life took up the fiddle. He's been very restless over the years but Boorach has given him a focus. His long suffering wife has had to put up with a dining room packed full of musical instruments! His advice to closet musicians is to find like minded folk and start a band. Dave's dream is to tour Canada with Boorach .... oneday maybe.
Heather
Fiddle, mandolin
tenor banjo, backing vocals
Heather surrounds herself with music when not working as a Parliamentary Assistant. She has played fiddle since she was 7 and stumbled on the mandolin after winning one at primary school. She decided traditional Scottish music was her favourite type to play and now can't imagine her life without music!
